Ponytail Barbie #1:
This Barbie can either be brunette or blonde, but since there were more blonde Barbie dolls made, that made the fewer brunette dolls more valuable. This particular Barbie has bangs that are curled and her hair is tied in a ponytail. She has red lips and white irises with arched eyebrows.
With a solid torso, she is made out of heavy vinyl plastic with copper tubing in her legs for her solid base and holes in the bottom of her feet. Her very white color is because of the type of plastic she was made of.
With her trade mark golden hoop earrings and white sunglasses, she wears a black and white zebra striped swim suit along with black high heels with open toes. This completes her original outfit.
Ponytail Barbie #2:
This Barbie doll is almost similar to Barbie #1, only that this one doesn’t have copper tubing in her legs nor holes in her feet. Instead her arms are the ones that act as her pedestal holding her in place.
Ponytail Barbie #3:
This Barbie doll resembles Barbie #2, had it not been for her softer eyebrows and blue irises with either blue or brown eyeliner.
Ponytail Barbie #4:
This Barbie doll is made of a different type of plastic that is able to retain her flesh colored tone for several years. She has blue eyeliner.
Ponytail Barbie #5:
This Barbie doll doesn’t have a solid torso but a hollow one that comes with a different marking from the first one. It bears Barbie ®. Be keen on the different ® whereas the other dolls have the ™.
Ponytail Barbie #6:
Fitted with red heels that have open toes, along with a red jersey swimsuit, this changes the original outfit completely.
Instead of her usual red lips, this one has a new watermelon color for her lips. This color is also used for her fingernail polish. Though she used to have a greasy face, the vinyl that was used then was rectified and the greasy face was solved.
Most of the vintage ponytail Barbie dolls could have had alterations done on them, such as repainting or anything else by artists. If you are a vintage Barbie doll collector, look out for the alterations. If the Barbie doll is not in its original form, then its value will definitely be lower, just like any other antique.
